CODING AND PROGRAMMING


Drag & Drop Programming (Grade 5–8)
Programming and Computer Science is everywhere, but programming with text is a hard process to learn and very intimidating. It doesn’t have to be, if you start from a beginning drag and drop programming course using code.org’s “Code Studio” to learn how to program simple games and presentations.


Game Salad Programming (Grade 5–8)
What if you could design and build a game to play on your Apple® iPhone® or iPad®? You can! With GameSalad® software and its super-friendly toolset, you’ll be able to build simple arcade-style video games. The easy drag and drop interface of GameSalad® opens us the world of iPhone® and iPad® game creation for anyone.


Minecraft EDU (Education Edition) (Grade 5–8)
Minecraft has taken the world by storm and is the most amazing creation and collaboration game on any and every system. You will enter a teacher-controlled world in which you’ll be given tasks and assignments to create a community where everyone will work together to create a village, town, city with given resources.


Game Design

Level I (Grade 5–8), Level II (Grade 7-10)
If you are interested in being a game designer, then this course will get you started. You will learn all the basics and even some advanced skills needed to create an amazing Arcade or Platform game using Multimedia Fusion 2. Due to popular demand, we’ve divided this course into two parts. Part I on Arcade‐style game creation (Bricks, Alien Attack, PacMan, etc.), while in Part II we will be focusing on Platform-style game creation (Mario Bros, Donkey--‐Kong, Sonic, etc.).

 

RPG Game Design

Level I (Grade 5–8), Level II (Grade 7-10)
RPG games like Pokemon and The Legend of Zelda have been wildly popular for many years.  Now you can create your own dungeon‐crawling, monster--‐battling, world--‐traveling epic adventure! RPG Maker® is a popular RPG development tool–user‐friendly for beginners, but powerful enough for advanced game developers.

Brain Games (Grade 5- 8)

Become a Brain Athlete! You will work out the muscle between your ears in a fun, challenging, and competitive way. Learn amazing facts about the human brain and its function to improve your own growth mindset.

 

Engineering Challenges

Level I (Grade 5-8), Level II Grade (7-11)

Are you ready for a challenge? Create dynamic and useful projects from idea to drawing to tangible product. Delve into the various forms of engineering to develop projects based on real-life engineering marvels.

 

Robowarz

Level I (Grade 5-8), Level II (Grade 8-11)

Working in teams, participants will build robots for competition using the popular Lego Mindstorms 2.0. You will control and drive these robots through mazes and head-to-head combat matches. Challenges include Races, Soccer, Basketball. Do you have what it takes to lead these robots to victory?

 

Robotics (Grade 5–8)

Design and program robots using Lego NXT toolkit. Explore sophisticated programming as you develop an increasingly difficult set of directions for your robots. Some of the tasks performed will provide you with first-hand experience of actual national competitions.

 

FLL; First Lego League Robotics Competition (Grade 5–8)

You’ll experience the thrill and excitement of the First Lego League Robotics competition culminating with a tournament where parents and friends are invited to cheer for their favorite team.

 

FTC; First Tech Challenge Robotics Competition 

(Grade 8-11)

First Tech Challenge teams are challenged to design, build, program and operate robots to play a floor game in an alliance format.

3D ANIMATION AND COMPUTER ART

 

3D Animation

Level I (Grade 5-8), Level II (Grade 7-10)

Do you enjoy watching movies like Finding Nemo, Up, and Avatar? You will become familiar with the basic skills animators use to create lifelike characters and movies in three dimensions. You will learn to make a short animation using Maya, ZBrush, and Windows Movie Maker.

 

3D Game Design – Trackmania (Grade 5-8)

Racing games are one of the best selling categories of video games in the gaming industry. Using the comprehensive toolset of TrackMania United®, you will learn to design an incredible variety of track types and modify sleek custom cars. Recreate famous tracks using a “Block” process and challenge your classmates to race on your creations.

 

3D Graphic Design

Level I (Grade 5-8), Level II (Grade 7-10)

This computer course will introduce students to the art of three-dimensional design. It will serve as an outline of how to systematically create grand structures and vast landscapes. All students will practice what they have learned in an independent project.

 

3D Printing

Level I (Grade 5-8), Level II (Grade 7-10)

3D printing is providing incredible possibilities to businesses and innovative individuals. This hands-on course explores the possibilities of 3D printing and allows you to see yourself as a builder and inventor. Interested in the digital tools and techniques relevant to visualizing and prototyping 3D designs? Come join us this summer.

 

Web Design

Level I (Grade 5-8), Level II (Grade 7-10)

Create your own web page. Decide what to publish; story you've written, reviews of books you've read, or an electronic magazine of your hobbies. Whatever it is, once you get the hang of it, it's a lot of fun.
